You need only look through the Yellow Pages to see there are many options when it comes to choosing the right veterinarian for your pet. Obviously, you need to make an informed choice, since your pet’s health and your peace of mind both depend on it. If you desire a long term relationship where your pet’s health is paramount, in which prevention is key, diagnosis is early, and treatment is all-encompassing and tailored to meet both your pet’s needs AND your expectations, consider Village Veterinary.
You should know we aren’t the cheapest around (you get what you pay for), we will be your pet’s advocate (since he/she can’t talk), we believe an early and correct diagnosis is the best insurance for your pet’s longevity, and we will use whatever treatment options it takes to ensure your pet’s quality of life. We are opposed to over vaccination, and we offer dietary and natural alternatives to medication whenever possible. We will never give up if there is a chance your pet can recover fully, but we will advise you if your pet is suffering and can’t be expected to overcome his/her disease.
How can we deliver such care? If you have met our team, you already have an idea of the superior training and the many years of experience we have compared to other hospitals in the area. Our technicians are highly skilled nurses who perform venipunctures, catheterizations, lab work, radiographs, anesthesia, surgical prep and assistance, patient care, and client education. This is one of the reasons we aren’t the cheapest around, since to retain great staff one must compensate them adequately. The other reason is that we believe in diagnosis, since successful treatment depends on it. It is certainly cheaper to prescribe first and diagnose later when treatment has failed, but can be fatal.
Such a well trained team enables us to offer in hospital laboratory testing for immediate results, in addition to titer testing for distemper, parvo virus, Lyme disease, feline leukemia and FIV. This provides early diagnosis for your pet, in addition to determining if your pet needs vaccination. Once we know your pet’s diagnosis, we are able to offer both conventional western treatments and alternative treatments such as acupuncture, Chinese herbs, chiropractic (VOM), and homeopathy. Dr. Julie Matthews’ extensive training and experience in alternative therapies ensures your pet the best of both worlds.
In addition to Dr. Matthew’s certifications in Acupuncture as well as Homeopathy, we offer on site ultrasound and surgery so that your pet gets continuity of care. Should your pet need care or diagnostics (CAT scan, MRI) which we can’t provide, we will be happy to provide a referral. Our goal is to ensure your pet’s continued good health and quality of life, promoting a long term relationship with us.
